Good to know before you stay
A few things you might want to know before arriving.
We’re Ilina & Martine, the people behind The Hills. We designed the apartments to give you plenty of independence and privacy, while making sure the little things you need are already taken care of.
Think of it as your own place in Merano, with us just a message away.
ARRIVING AT THE HILLS
How does check-in work?
Easy. The Hills is a self check-in stay, so there’s no reception or waiting around when you arrive.
Once you’ve completed your guest registration, we’ll send you your personal access code and everything you need for check-in digitally on the day of arrival, shortly before 3:00 PM.
What time can I check in?
Your apartment is ready from 3:00 PM.
If you arrive later, no problem. Your personal code means you can check in independently whenever it suits you.
Can I arrive earlier?
Sometimes, yes. Early check-in from 12:00 PM depends on our cleaning schedule and costs €50.
If you book directly with us, early check-in is complimentary whenever available.
What time is check-out?
Check-out is until 10:00 AM.
Can I stay a little longer?
If nobody is arriving straight after you, we may be able to offer late check-out for €50. Send us a WhatsApp the evening before and we’ll check what’s possible.
Your car can also stay in our garage until 12:00 PM after check-out. Just let us know.
YOUR PLACE IN MERANO
Where exactly is The Hills?
A little above Merano, on its sunny hillside.
You’re in a quiet residential setting, right next to the Tappeinerweg, while Merano’s historic centre is only around 8-10 minutes on foot.
The way back includes a few uphill minutes - but that little climb is also the reason you get the view.
Is the Tappeinerweg really that close?
Yes. It runs just behind the house.
You can step outside and start one of Merano’s most beautiful walks almost straight from your doorstep.
How far is Therme Merano?
Around 15 minutes on foot.
Do I need a car in Merano?
Not necessarily.
The old town, cafés, restaurants, shops, Therme Merano and the Tappeinerweg are all within walking distance. If you want to explore more of South Tyrol, having a car naturally gives you a little more freedom.
Do you offer the Südtirol Guest Pass?
No, we currently don’t offer the Südtirol Guest Pass or a guest card with complimentary public transport.
FIND YOUR APARTMENT
How many apartments are there?
Just eight.
Small enough to keep The Hills personal, but different enough that you can find the apartment that feels most like yours.
Are all apartments the same?
Not quite.
Our Front Row apartments look straight towards the mountains.
Our Corner View apartments have a glass corner in the living room, opening the panorama in two directions.
And then there are our Lofts - the most generous version of The Hills. More living space, larger layouts and more room to settle in, spread out and stay awhile.
Do all apartments have a mountain view?
Yes. The mountains are part of The Hills.
Every apartment looks out onto the same beautiful, sunny mountain panorama - just from a slightly different angle.
Do you have apartments for larger groups?
Yes.
Our Garden Loft and Sky Loft both sleep up to 6 guests.
Coming with an even bigger group? You can also book several apartments together - close enough to spend the trip together, with your own space when you want it.
Do you have smaller or more affordable apartments?
Our collection ranges from one-bedroom apartments to our larger Lofts.

WE’VE GOT THE BASICS COVERED
Do I need to bring bed linen and towels?
No need.
We’ll have your bed made and fresh towels ready for every registered guest before you arrive.
What if we want to use the sofa bed?
We prepare the sleeping arrangements according to the number of guests in your booking.
If you’d specifically like us to prepare the sofa bed even though another bed is available, just let us know before arrival. We’ll have the linen and duvet ready for you.
What will I find in the bathroom?
A few less things to pack.
We provide hand soap, shampoo and shower gel, and there’s a hairdryer in your apartment.
You’ll also find a first supply of toilet paper ready for your arrival.
What’s already in the kitchen?
We’ve got the basics covered - dish soap, salt, pepper, vinegar and oil are already there.
Every apartment also has a Nespresso coffee machine, with a first round of capsules waiting for you.
After that, anything you need can easily be picked up in one of the supermarkets nearby.
Is there a washing machine?
Yes. There’s a shared washing machine in the house that you can use during your stay.
Can I ask for an extra pillow or blanket?
Of course.
If you already know you’ll need something extra, send us a WhatsApp before you arrive and we’ll do our best to have it waiting for you.
BREAKFAST, YOUR WAY
Do you serve breakfast?
We don’t - and that’s part of the apartment feeling.
Make coffee in your own kitchen, take breakfast slowly on your balcony or walk down into Merano for a cappuccino and something fresh from one of the cafés or bakeries.
The centre is only a few minutes away, so you have plenty to choose from.
UP FOR WELLNESS?
Do you have a spa or wellness area at The Hills?
We don’t have a wellness area in the house, but we have a partnership with Therme Merano, just around 15 minutes on foot from The Hills.
Therme Merano is Merano’s thermal spa, with indoor pools and a large sauna area open throughout the year. In summer, the experience moves outside too, with a large thermal park and outdoor pools right in the centre of Merano.
If you book directly with us, you receive 20% off admission tickets, and we take care of the booking for you.
Booked The Hills through a booking platform? You can still use our booking service and receive 10% off your Therme Merano tickets.
Just send us a WhatsApp the evening before you’d like to go and we’ll arrange the tickets for you.
PARKING & GETTING AROUND
Do you have private parking?
Yes. Your stay includes a parking space in our private underground garage.
Our larger six-person Lofts include two spaces.
If you need another one, additional parking can be reserved depending on availability for €15 per day.
Will my car fit in the garage?
The garage entrance is 2.10 metres high, so most larger cars and SUVs fit comfortably.
Can I charge my electric car?
Yes. We have an EV charging station directly in the garage.
You can start charging with your own compatible charging card or scan the QR code at the station and pay by credit card.
Charging costs €0.81/kWh.
BIKES & E-BIKES
Do you rent bikes or e-bikes?
We don’t have our own rental bikes, but you’ll find a bike rental close to Merano train station with both regular bikes and e-bikes.
Can I bring my own bike?
Absolutely.
We’ve created a bike storage area inside the garage, with a power socket nearby for charging e-bikes.
DOGS AT THE HILLS
Can I bring my dog?
In selected apartments, yes.
We welcome one well-behaved dog per apartment on request. The fee is €20 per night.
Dogs aren’t accepted in our garden apartments and can’t use the shared green areas.
We simply ask that your four-legged travel companion respects the quiet atmosphere at The Hills too. Owners are responsible for any damage caused during the stay, and persistent barking that disturbs other guests isn’t permitted.
What if we book several apartments and bring one dog?
The dog fee applies to each apartment the dog uses.
So if you’ve booked several apartments and your dog will be spending time in more than one of them, the €20 nightly dog fee is charged for each apartment concerned.
FAMILIES
Can we stay with children?
The Hills welcomes guests from 14 years old.
Our apartments are made for relaxed, independent stays and work especially well for couples, friends and families travelling with older children.
Do you have cots, high chairs or children's equipment?
No. As we welcome guests from age 14, we don’t keep baby or children’s equipment at The Hills.
CLEANING
Is there daily housekeeping?
No - this is your own place for the days you’re here.
We prepare everything before you arrive, but there’s no daily hotel-style housekeeping.
How much is final cleaning?
Final cleaning is charged once per stay:
- €80 for our one-bedroom apartments
- €130 for our Lofts

Book directly through our website and you’ll get direct communication with us, 20% off Therme Merano tickets and complimentary early check-in from 12:00 PM whenever our cleaning schedule allows it.
Can you help me choose an apartment?
Absolutely.
Tell us who you’re travelling with and what matters most to you - more space, the highest floor, morning sun, a garden or a particular view - and we’ll point you towards the apartment that fits.
INVOICES & EXTRAS
Can I get an invoice?
Yes.
If you need specific personal or company details on your invoice, please send them to us by your departure day.
Once the invoice has been issued, later changes can’t always be guaranteed.
How can I pay for extras?
For extras such as dog fees, Therme Merano tickets or late check-out, you can pay by cash, PayPal or bank transfer.
