The Hills Merano is our small collection of design apartments just above Merano in the Italian Alps — right next to the city centre, just a little uphill. High enough for open views above the rooftops, far enough to leave the city noise behind.

A few years ago, right on this very spot, stood our family-run Hotel Tappeiner. But as times changed, so did we. And that's how The Hills Merano came to life.
We still get to welcome you - just with a little more freedom to be yourself, live at your own pace and make the stay your own. Less like traditional guests, more like friends we've made space for.
Our own family and friends are spread all over the world - and so are our guests.
And if there's one thing we've learned, it's that everyone travels differently.
That's why we designed The Hills to give you space to spend time together, do your own thing and shape your stay around whatever feels right for you.
SO, WHAT DO WE DO TODAY?
Hike. Eat. Wander. Wine. Spa. Repeat. Or don't.
Merano is one of those places that's hard to put in a box. An alpine town where palm trees grow below mountain peaks, Italian and South Tyrolean culture meet, and a morning hike can quite easily end with a very long lunch.
Walk the sunny Tappeiner Promenade behind the house. Head higher into the mountains. Spend an afternoon at Therme Merano. Find a winery. Wander into town for shopping and aperitivo.
Or stay on the balcony. Also a very good plan.

NOT EVERYONE HAS TO LOVE HIKING.
The nice thing is, you don't all have to want the same thing.
One of you can head out for a hike while someone else wanders into Merano for coffee, shopping or aperitivo. And if one of you would rather stay on the balcony with the view? Also a very good plan.
Come back together for slow mornings, dinner and long evenings. The rest of the day is yours.

Come as two, bring your favourite people, or book a few apartments at once. With eight apartments under one roof, everyone can have their own space without being far apart.
The Hills welcomes adults and teenagers aged 14+.
WHAT DOES A STAY COST?
One-bedroom apartments start from €170/night, while our larger lofts start from €450/night.
Rates incl. city tax (2,20€ per night/person) change with season, demand and length of stay. A one-time cleaning fee applies and varies depending on the apartment you choose.

AND WHO'S BEHIND THE HILLS?
We're Ilina and Martine — daughter and mum, born and raised right here in South Tyrol.
We're usually on the run, love discovering new places and meeting people along the way - but we're also very different travellers ourselves.
Ilina has a thing for beautiful spaces, new places and those that still feel genuinely local. Martine is more about the sunny side of life: good food, relaxing and taking her time.
